Proposed Agricultural Pipeline Conversion Project

Post Date:12/13/2016 5:39 PM

Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD), the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (RCFC) and the City of Lake Elsinore are proposing to use an abandoned agricultural pipeline to transport recycled water to Lake Elsinore. The project is currently in design.

EVMWD already moves approximately 5 million gallons of recycled water to the lake from the Regional Water
Reclamation Facility via the Lake Elsinore Outlet Channel. This supplemental water helps offset some of the 4 1/2 feet of water the lake loses to evaporation each year. However, this water flowing through the channel has encouraged vegetation growth and created costly maintenance issues for the RCFC, which maintains the Outlet Channel.
