The following news update is from the Lake Elsinore Unified School District and Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The public is asked to be alert to suspicious activity and to contact the Sheriff's Department with any information related to the following incident.

Another incident involving a suspicious male approaching a student in the community was reported on Wednesday, October 28. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating this incident and department officials have indicated that it does not appear to be linked to several incidents that have taken place over the last few weeks.

The incident took place around 7 a.m. on the north side of Lake Elsinore near the 32900 block of Machado Street. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the student was walking along the street when a male in a golden-colored car approached her, may have brandished a weapon and instructed her to get in the car. The student refused and fled the area safely. She was not physically harmed during the incident and proceeded directly to school.

The suspect in this case is described as an unshaven white male, 30 to 35 years old, with a fair complexion, a blond crew cut and brown eyes. His vehicle is described as a 1990’s gold, four-door sedan.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Lake Elsinore station at (951) 245-3300 or the dispatcher at (951) 776-1099.

As always, the Lake Elsinore Unified School District will continue to work closely with law enforcement officials. The Sheriff’s Department is actively and thoroughly investigating this incident, as well as the incidents that have occurred in recent weeks.

Parents and community members are urged to continue to be alert as they drive around the community. Anyone who sees one of the suspicious vehicles is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department.
