Central Avenue/Hwy 74 Construction

Caltrans Project Causes Lane Closures

Post Date:08/02/2017 3:22 PM

Last month, Caltrans initiated a sewer project on Highway 74/Central Avenue between Dexter and Conard Avenue. As a result, several lanes were closed and/or altered along this roadway. Below are details about this project as provided by Caltrans.

Project Location: SR-74 from Dexter Avenue to Conard Avenue

Project Description: Install a vehicle rinse facility inside the existing Caltrans Maintenance Station on Conard Avenue, and install an eight-inch sewer line extending from the Maintenance Station to the center of SR-74 and continue along the center of SR-74 to the intersection of Dexter Avenue.

Project Duration: The project will last until November, but once Caltrans receives an encroachment permit from the City the work on SR-74 should only take 3-4 weeks.  A majority of the work is at the Caltrans Maintenance Station.

At this time, the City is working with Caltrans on traffic plans and a submission for an encroachment permit.

Questions and concerns related to this project should be directed to Caltrans Public Information Officer Joy Schneider at (909) 383-6291 or joy.schneider@dot.ca.gov
