Lakeshore Drive Sidewalk & Bike Lane Project Underway

Project to Complete Critical Gap for Pedestrians

On September 17th, the City began construction of the long-awaited Lakeshore Drive sidewalk and bike lane project. This project includes a new ADA compliant sidewalk, curb, gutters along Lakeshore Drive between Machado Street & Wise Street. The purpose is to complete this critical gap in our sidewalks to create a safer route for many pedestrians that use this roadway every day.

This project is one of seven sidewalk, bike lane, and/or trail projects planned in the City this year. All projects are being funded by SB 821 funding to create safer routes to schools.

Project Location: Lakeshore Drive between Machado Street & Wise Street

Project Impacts: No major road closures are planned. However, the roadway will be narrowed and there could be some short-term closures for connecting roads as needed for the project.   

Project Description:.

  • ADA Compliant Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter along .25 miles of Lakeshore Drive
  • Grind and Overlay, Crack Seal and Slurry Seal of Lakeshore Drive
  • New Streetlights
  • New Traffic Striping and Traffic Loop

Construction Start Date: September 17, 2018

Estimated Construction Completion: November 2018
