Lakeshore Drive Sidewalk Project Nearing Completion
Project to Complete Critical Gap for Pedestrians
On September 17th, the City began construction of the long-awaited Lakeshore Drive sidewalk and bike lane project. This project includes a new ADA compliant sidewalk, curb, gutters along Lakeshore Drive between Machado Street & Wise Street. The purpose is to complete this critical gap in our sidewalks to create a safer route for many pedestrians that use this roadway every day.
This project is one of seven sidewalk, bike lane, and/or trail projects planned in the City this year. All projects are being funded by SB 821 funding to create safer routes to schools.
The City in has successfully completed the Slurry Seal portion of the road improvements as of 11/3/18.
Remaining improvements for this project include striping, truncated cones and the installation of new solar streetlights. Striping and truncated cone installation are expected to be complete within the next week and the installation of streetlights will commence November 12th.
Project Location: Lakeshore Drive between Machado Street & Wise Street
Project Impacts: Road closure is planned for Saturday, November 3rd from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Lakeshore Drive from Machado Street to Viscaya. Please use alternate routes.
