3rd Street Drainage Project Under Construction
Project to Provide Flood Protection and Spur Economic Development
In August, the City began the 3rd Street Drainage project. This $4.1 million project has been long-awaited to address drainage concerns in this part of the City.
Upon completion, this project is expected to spur economic development and additional private investment in the City including the planned Walmart Supercenter, which is expected to start construction next year.
This project includes the installation of a Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) and a 96" Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) on 3rd Street south of State Route 74 (Central Avenue) and under Interstate 15 to adequately collect and convey the drainage water flows of approximately 704 tributary acres.
Project Location: Third Street South of State Route 74 (Central Avenue), which includes portions of Collier Ave,, Cambern Ave,, Conard Ave and Welch Drive. Project begins at Collier Avenue and ends at Cambern Ave.
Project Impacts: No significant impacts expected at this time.
- Phased installation of an underground reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and a reinforced concrete box (RCB) structure
- Construction of a master drainage facility that would provide flood protection to the existing Third Street channel watershed and adjacent properties
Estimated Construction Start: August 2018
Estimated Construction Completion: January 2019
