I-15 Express Lanes Project Scoping Summary Report Now Available

The Riverside County Transportation Commission has partnered up with the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) to work on the Interstate 15 Express Lanes Project Southern Extension that would add an additional 14.5 miles to the I-15 Express Lanes. The proposed segment would extend the Express Lanes from Cajalco Road in Corona through Temescal Valley to Central Avenue in Lake Elsinore. 

This project proposes to add two (2) additional tolled express lanes in both directions in order to accommodate increasing traffic in western Riverside County.The project is expected to: 

  • Improve traffic operations and travel times
  • Expand travel choice through carpooling and mass transit
  • Increase travel time reliability
  • Manage long-term traffic congestion
  • Provide a cost-effective mobility solution
  • Expand and maintain compatibility with the regional express lanes network

Other goals of this project are to widening up to 15 bridges create multiple entrances and exits to the express lanes, build noise barriers, retaining walls, drainage systems, and electronic toll collection equipment and signs.

The scoping period of this project took place from October 21 to November 22, 2019 to inform the public of this project and to solicit feedback on alternatives and potential impacts. You can view the Scoping Summary Report here.
