Ortega Highway SR-74 Closure July Update
Latest Update: July 6, 2021
Starting Tuesday, July 6th, the Caltrans District 8 Ortega Highway Widening Project will begin conducting full nightly closures from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. every weeknight. There will be no through traffic allowed during these hours. All motorists, including residents, will be turned away at 10:00 p.m. These nightly closures will occur until December 2021.
In addition to these nightly closures, there will be full 55-hour weekend closures beginning Friday, July 16th from 10:00 p.m. to Monday, July 19th, at 5:00 a.m.. These weekend closures will occur every other weekend until August 30th, 2021.
Reminder: When the full closures begin, there will be no through access; resident passes will no longer be valid. All commuters will need to utilize the alternate route. The alternate route will depend on which side of the highway (Riverside or Orange County) the full closure is taking place. Motorists will need to utilize the I-15 and SR-91 to go around the closure and gain access to their destinations.
