Development Engineering

The Development Section processes development projects from inception to completion, including coordination with the Planning and Building Divisions. Staff also processes plan checks of final maps, improvement and grading plans for new development, issues permits for encroachments, grading, and construction inspection for residential and commercial developments. Engineering staff is also available at the counter to provide the public with assistance and respond to their inquiries.

In addition, the Department's Goals are to: 

  • Minimize and account for the possible impact of new development on existing City facilities and the public tax burden by overseeing the installation of works and utilities infrastructure by the development community. Ensure that developers build to the standards outlined in the Subdivision Map Act, Municipal Code, and adopted City Public Works Standards
