Currently, the city owns 47 traffic signals with an additional 7 traffic signals that are co-owned with the City of Wildomar (County maintained).  Traffic signals along State Route 74 and on freeway on/off-ramps are Caltrans maintained.  There are 15 Caltrans traffic signals that the City could inherit with the acquisition of State Route 74.  Maintenance responsibility falls to the owing agency; information on reporting a malfunctioning traffic signal can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions. Traffic signals are installed by new development as a condition of approval when needed based on a City approved traffic study.  Signals are also installed as part of City capital improvement projects.
