The purpose of obtaining permits is to establish the minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare of the citizens and public of Lake Elsinore. This is achieved through structural design, means of egress facilities, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, energy conservation, and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards. Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical, or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the building official and obtain the required permit. Inspections

Construction or work for which a permit is required shall be subject to inspection by the building official and such construction or work shall remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes until approved. It shall be the duty of the permit applicant to cause the work to remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes. Neither the building official nor the jurisdiction shall be liable for expense entailed in the removal or replacement of any material required to allow inspection.

Inspections can be scheduled by calling the inspection line at (951) 674-3124 x239 and providing the project address, permit number, type of inspection requested, and a call back number. Calls received before 5:00 p.m. on a workday will be scheduled for the next availble workday(*). Due to a reduction in staffing levels we can no longer garantee a next workday inspection or provide specific times.  If an inspection cannot be performed you will recieve a call back.  If special arrangements for inspection need to be made, please contact the Senior Building Inspector. * NOTICE - Effective July1,2010, inspections will be performed every other Friday starting July 9, 2010. The opposite Fridays there will be no inspections.
