The Volunteers in the Parks program was created by the Parks & Recreation Department to enable community volunteers to participate in special park "clean up" projects throughout the year.
Open to people of all ages This is a great community service opportunity for church groups, service organizations, clubs and individuals. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate, but youth participants under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Eligible students ages 15 years or older can earn community service hours for service groups or graduation required hours. Sorry, court ordered hours cannot be accommodated in this program.
What is provided City Staff are on hand to provide supervision, refreshments and plenty of appreciation for your support! We will establish with each project, the scope of the work and will provide instruction as needed.
What to bring Please wear sturdy shoes (no sandals), sun protection and work gloves are also recommended. Students should bring their community service worksheets to earn credit hours. For some projects, volunteers will be asked to supply garden tools that are easily accessible. For those without tools, the tools needed will be provided on site.
Dates & locations The 2010 schedule for fall is shown below and volunteers are asked to be available from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
How to sign up To sign up for park clean ups, please call the Lake Community Center at (951) 245-0442. We will direct all volunteers to the location of the project and any tools required. Volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Application and all minors must have parental permission to participate.
