Fair Housing is a right protected by federal and state laws. Fair Housing means you may freely choose a place to live without regard to your race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or because you are disabled or have children in your family.
The City of Lake Elsinore promotes fair housing practices throughout the community, and strives to prohibit practices that restrict housing choice for our residents. The City is an active partner with the Fair Housing Council of Riverside County. The mission of the Fair Housing Council is to provide comprehensive services which affirmatively address and promote fair housing (anti-discrimination) rights and further other housing opportunities for all persons without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, presence of children, disability, ancestry, marital status, or other arbitrary factors.
In addition to other programs, the Fair Housing Council provides first-time homebuyer assistance and counseling as well as foreclosure counseling for existing homeowners. As an active partner with the Fair Housing Council, the City provides you with information regarding Loan Modification Assistance (PDF 135 KB), and First Time Homebuyer Workshops and the 2012 Schedule for First Time Homebuyer Workshops (PDF 129 KB).
