Southwest Communities Animal Shelter:
The Southwest Community Financing Authority is a joint-powers authority of Riverside County & the Cities of Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Murrieta, Temecula & Wildomar. Funding for the 32,000 sq. ft. shelter was $11.4 million. City Animal Control and Sheltering services are provided through a contract with Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV).

Shelter Hours:
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday - Friday
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday
10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday
Open third Sunday of the month, noon to 4 p.m.
It is a state law and city ordinance that all dogs 4 months of age and older be vaccinated against rabies and licensed in the city in which the animal lives (within 30 days). The city also requires all cats over the age of 4 months be vaccinated against rabies and licensed. Licensing can be done in person at the shelter, online or via mail.

Animal Friends of the Valleys Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic:
Why spend more when you don't have to? Visit the Animal Friends of the Valleys' low cost, high-quality spay and neuter clinic. The Clinic is now open Monday - Friday. Low-cost vaccinations and $20 microchipping are available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (no appointment necessary). For an appointment for other services including Spay/Neuter Services, call (951) 674-SPAY.
