Honoring the Brave Men & Women Who Have Served Our Country

Veterans Memorial

In 2014, the City of Lake Elsinore unveiled its long-awaited Veterans Memorial to honor and remember the brave men and women who have served to protect our country and our freedom.

The City's custom Veterans Memorial is located in the main entryway of Diamond Stadium and includes two monument areas. The upper memorial area is a large, custom premium black granite monument etched with the depiction of a soldier in front of a fallen soldier’s battlefield grave. The grave is marked by the rifle, helmet, dog tags and the boots of a fallen soldier. This has become a well-known symbol of respect and honor those lost in battle and is a practice that dates back to the American Civil War.

The lower monument area includes five premium granite pedestals with the insignia for each of the branches surrounding a flag pole with lighting. Finally, the memorial includes the engraving of the surrounding bricks that Veterans and/or their families can purchase to honor their service. To-date, 358 bricks have been engraved.

Veterans Memorial Brick Program

The City of Lake Elsinore Veterans Memorial Brick Program is a great way to honor a special veteran in your life by engraving a brick with their name, rank and/or years of service. The first line includes name & rank, second line branch & year and the third line allows for any miscellaneous note. Suggested abbreviations: BRNZ (Bronze), SLVR (Silver), PRPL (Purple). Symbols of hearts and stars are now available.

Bricks will only be engraved once per year prior to Veterans Day prior to Veterans Day. 2018 Veterans Day Observance Ceremony

On November 10, 2018, the City held its annual Veterans Day Observance Ceremony honoring America’s Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen who have bravely answered the call to defend our freedom. This year, the City of Lake Elsinore was honored to be selected as one of only four municipalities statewide to be designated as a prestigious 2018 Veterans Day Regional Site by the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

At the ceremony, Mayor Natasha Johnson and Keynote Speaker, World War II Veteran Staff Sergeant Richard Harthun shared a few words about our veterans. For the 2018 ceremony, the City engraved 37 new bricks purchased by our community to honor a hero in their lives. In total, more than 350 engraved bricks now surround the City's Veterans Memorial at Diamond Stadium.
