The mission of the Dream Extreme Future Leaders Program is to provide an avenue for the youth in Lake Elsinore to engage in City Government by instilling the importance of civic values and developing civic skills. The program will accomplish this mission by cultivating 21st-century skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities, as well as assisting the students in obtaining practical, hands-on work experience. The City is fully committed to investing in its future workforce and providing opportunities to expand knowledge and gain experience in public service careers for high school students.
The eight-week program includes classroom-setting training two days per week. The culmination will be the presentation of an Advocacy Project, selected by the students, at a Council meeting along with recognition for participating in the program. Students graduating from this program will be eligible to apply for Summer Internships and Program Assistants.
Students must be juniors or Seniors in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District or residents in the City of Lake Elsinore for eligibility to join the program. They must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. The school year program is limited to 15 students.
The application period for this year's program closed on September 29, 2023. If you are a Junior this year, please consider applying next year.
