Christensen Community Park is located at the intersection of Canyon Hills Road and Piedmont Drive. This nearly six-acre park offers a variety of amenities for families, including a large open field for baseball and soccer, playground equipment, a full-court basketball area, on-site parking, restroom facilities, and a picnic area.
The Christensen family’s roots in Lake Elsinore date back to 1882, when Danish brick maker and immigrant Hans Christensen Sr. arrived in the Menifee Valley in search of opportunity. As one of the area’s earliest families, the Christensens played a significant role in the agricultural and community development of Lake Elsinore for more than a century.
At its peak, the family owned over 5,000 acres of wheat, barley, and cattle farmland between Menifee and Lake Elsinore, including approximately 2,000 acres later sold to Pardee for the development of Canyon Hills. The family sold their remaining land and farm equipment in 1998. Their lasting legacy and contributions to the community are honored and memorialized through Christensen Community Park.
